Vintage 1950’s Santa Claus “Greetings From Your Richfield Dealer” advertising cardboard Christmas decoration. The jolly Santa Claus lithograph is printed on both sides of the decoration.
This Santa Claus has a hole at the top for hanging as a Christmas tree ornament, or perhaps to hang on the wall. It could also be used as a charming Holiday package decoration.
This old cardboard advertising piece measures about 9 inches in length, and is about 5 inches at the widest part. This classic Santa Claus dressed in his red and white suite, has his bag of dolls, candy canes, sleigh bells, and other toys. The piece is not dated, and it is my estimate that it dates back to around 1950?
I do not know what “Richfield Dealer” this cheerful old Santa Claus was created to advertise. I have seen advertising for Richfield Tires, and other auto and car dealerships from the 1950’s, but I can’t say if this Santa Claus was advertising for those products, or something else?
This vintage Saint Nick was lovingly used, and it has some stains on both sides which look like they might be water stains, and maybe a tiny bit of mildew and soil from long ago? I have included a lot of photographs for you. There is a little wear and tear on the cardboard here and there, and on the edges, and some color fading. There is very minor bending in the cardboard, but no crease marks.
Vintage cardboard Christmas items are highly collectible, and this Santa Claus advertising piece would make a wonderful Holiday decorating addition for your home, or a great gift for that special collector!
