Vintage cutlery knife sharpening steel handle similar to carved stag horn but probably plastic or maybe bakelite in blended brown black color, not sure of handle material, with lovely repousse raised roses flowers silver band connecting sharpener steel to handle. I think the center band is sterling silver but it is not marked sterling so I cannot verify this and it might be silverplate. I do not see any manufacturer’s marks. There are scratches and pits on the silver color metal end of the handle, and age darkening on the steel and some small brown spots here and there, maybe a tiny bit of rust. It is about 12 ½ inches in length. This was probably originally part of a kitchen meat carving set, but I do not have the fork and knife to match it.
