Vintage 1965 Reliance Plastics astronaut toy spaceman doll or space dog (?) wearing his space age helmet and blue spacesuit, and with his red outer space gun in hand. I believe this toy is rubber, and it is a squeaky toy when you squeeze it. It is marked on the back “Reliance Plastics Inc. 1965”.
This fun little space guy measures about 8 inches in height, and would make a whimsical display for a space age decorating theme. The bottom base measures about 2 5/8 inches by about 2 5/8 inches.
This space astronaut is in very nice condition. I see a small white spot on his nose, and another under his eye that might be a tiny bit of color wear. Overall the color is very nice, with maybe a little fading and slight wear from use and from age. The color is on the front of this doll, and I believe that the back never had color (?), but please look at the photos to decide for yourself. The squeaker works fine.
Vintage outer space related toys have become a highly collectible area of interest, with particular interest in those dating back to the early days of space exploration. This would be a great addition to your collection, or a wonderful gift for that special collector.
