Vintage Oneida Ltd. (1881 Rogers), Meadowbrook (aka Heather) silverplate handles with stainless blades flatware, 14 grille or viande knives (or are they dinner knives?), marked only on the knife blade “Wm. A. Rogers Stainless”. This lovely silver pattern was first produced by Oneida in 1936.
These elegant silver plate knives measure about 8 3/8 inches in length. There are no monograms. According to my research, the terms “viande” and “grille” were terms from the 1930’s used to represent a style of knife that had longer handles and a little bit shorter blades, which was said to be more comfortable to hold.
These Oneida silverplate handle knives are in very nice condition, with some normal small scratches that you would expect in vintage flatware that was lovingly used over the years. I only gently polished this silverware by hand, and the buyer may choose to polish it more.
