Wallace Silversmiths 1988 Silver Sleigh Bell Christmas Ornament, Eighteenth in a Limited Edition of the annual series of highly collectible silverplate bell ball ornaments. There is a raised design festive band that features Christmas bells and holiday balls and ornaments going around the center band, and the date “1988”. The bell is marked at the bottom “Wallace” and has the Wallace trademark symbol.
This highly collectible bell ornament measures about 8 1/4” in circumference all the way around the middle. There is a metal ring going through a post on top for hanging the bell decoration. It measures about 2 1/2” tall including the post on top (not including the ring). The bell makes a lovely ringing sound.
The paper tag card says “This year’s Annual Bell celebrates the joy of the holiday season by creating a magical string of traditional Christmas ornaments. Each special ornament is captured in luxurious Wallace Silverplate. The year 1988 is displayed in the center and is decorated with bells, balls and medallions. Eighteenth in a series and never to be repeated.”
It is in excellent vintage condition, with very minor use scratches that you would expect in an item that was lovingly used over the years. The buyer may want to polish the decoration a little more.
The original box as well as the outer cardboard sleeve, and the paper tag card are also included. The box and card are in excellent condition, with a little bit of edge and corner wear. The outer cardboard sleeve has minor surface wear, and has no label, no printing, and no numbers on it. I see areas on the outer sleeve that look like there may have been a label or price tag (see photo), but the labels are no longer on the outer sleeve.
