Here are three WWII 1943 ration stamp coupon books, along with one envelope. The 3 World War II ration books are from the Hadsell family in Chapman, Kansas. Two of the books have sequential numbers, 935121N (Frank Hadsell), and 935122N (Lura Hadsell). Both of these say “U. S. Government Printing Office: 1943” on the back. The other ration stamp book is number FR192973 (Guy Hadsell), and I do not see a date on it. The books have been used, and each book has at least one full attached page of stamps, and then there are some partial pages of stamps, and there are some loose stamps.
The ration stamp books measure about 5 ¼ inches by about 4 ¼ inches. They all say “United States of America, Office of Price Administration, War Ration Book Four”. On the back of the ration stamp books it says “Never buy rationed goods without ration stamps. Never pay more than the legal price”. The two sequential numbered books say “Important: When you have used your ration, salvage the Tin Cans and Waste Fats. They are needed to make munitions for our fighting men. Cooperate with your local Salvage Committee”. The other one has a similar statement, that says “…salvage the Tin Cans and Waste Fats. They are needed to make essential supplies for the battle fronts and the home front….”
The ration books are in good condition, with some wear and tear, bends, corner and edge wear, age yellowing, and some staining and a little dirt. They each have a crease down the center from being folded. The envelope has some wear and tear, a hole in one corner, and is missing the top flap. There is no printing on the envelope.
